FRAMING SERVICE

I offer the option of delivering your portraits already framed, with a professional frame that protects the work and enhances its appearance. Below is a complete explanation of what is included in the basic option, what alternatives are available, why certain choices are important (especially in pastel) and how they affect the price and shipping.

What does basic framing include?

The service includes a simple frame, archival mat and glossy glass. If you would like special materials or finishes (anti-reflective glass, museum glass, custom moulding), we will provide a separate quote. Please note that framing may increase the shipping cost due to weight and fragility.

SIMPLE FRAME

Classic, minimalist moulding that frames the artwork without detracting from it. Available in black, white or brown to match any décor.

MATBOARD

Thick cardstock that creates a border around the drawing, separating it from the glass. It protects the artwork (especially important for pastels) and gives it a more elegant and professional finish.

Standard transparent glass that covers the artwork and protects it from dust and scratches, keeping the colours sharp and true.

GLOSSY GLASS

- Why is a matboard essential for my works?

I do not apply fixative to pastels (to preserve the texture, vividness and roughness inherent to the medium). That is why it is essential that there be a physical separation between the surface of the pastel and the glass:

The mat prevents the pigment from coming into contact with and sticking to the glass.

In addition, the mat prevents yellowing and long-term degradation.

FRAME PRICES

Below is a table showing the prices of frames depending on the size of the portrait. These prices include a simple frame, mount (3.5 cm) and glossy glass.

These prices are approximate, as if you want a different frame, glass or mount, the price may vary.

Please note that the frame and mount add approximately 7 cm to the total size of the work (on each side), which you should take into account if the picture is to be placed in a specific space.

*IMPORTANT: Please note that framing may increase the shipping cost due to weight and fragility.

FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What does the framing price include?

It includes a simple frame (black, white or brown), a 3.5 cm mat and glossy glass. In addition, the mounting is professional, designed to protect the pastel and deliver the work to you perfectly framed and protected.

Can I choose a different type of frame, mat or glass?

Yes! If you would like a different frame, a mat in another colour or special glass (anti-reflective, museum glass, acrylic, etc.), please let me know when you place your order. The price may vary depending on the materials and the complexity of the assembly.

Does the frame change the final size of the artwork?

Yes. The frame and mat add about 7 cm to each side of the sheet, so it is important to take this into account if the picture is to be placed in a specific space. The price of the portrait remains the same, but bear in mind that if you frame it, the size will be larger due to the frame.

Why are the prices not exact or do they vary?

The prices in the table are indicative; they refer to a simple frame with a white mat and glossy glass. If you request a different frame, special glass or premium moulding, the price will be adjusted to the actual quote. It may also vary if the size of your portrait differs from the standard measurements.

Why do you use mounting boards in all your works?

My pastel portraits do not use fixative, as fixative can alter the colours and texture.

The mounting board keeps the drawing separate from the glass, preventing the pigment from sticking and protecting the work in the long term.

Can I order just the portrait and frame it myself?

Of course. I can deliver the portrait unframed if you prefer, so you can choose the frame in your city. I offer this service if you would rather receive the portrait already framed to hang in your home or give as a special gift.

What happens if the frame is damaged during shipping?

If your package arrives damaged:

  1. Take photos of the packaging before opening it and of the damage.

  2. Notify me within the first 24 hours.

  3. I will handle the incident with the transport company to replace or repair the frame, as appropriate.

(That is why I recommend insured shipping.)
